Centre for Maritime Education and Training (CMET) was established in order to bring Maritime education to the hinterland. Located in Lucknow about 500 kilometers from Delhi, the national capital of India and is well connected to it through air, road and rail.
CMET Lucknow was founded in 1999 by Late Mirza B Beg to impart maritime education in all parts of country. This mission and vision were carried forward by his son Captain Noor Iman Beg and his family. Captain Noor Iman Beg is an Ex-Rajendra and has sailed for more than 25 years. Apart from years of teaching experience, he also has 14 years of Command experience on different types of vessels.
In a span of almost 20 years, CMET has trained more than 25000 officers and crew for shipping industry. In 2017, CMET built two sister colleges named as HSNA Maritime Education and Research in Lucknow and HSNA Maritime Education and Research in Mumbai. Considering the demand of seafarers for pre-joining medicals, CMET also built two Medical Centres in Lucknow named as CMET Marine Medical and HSNA International Medical and Diagnostics. CMET also complies with the training recommendations of IMO, London conducting professional maritime courses.
All the courses being offered by CMET, Lucknow are approved by Directorate General of Shipping, Ministry of Surface Transport, Government of India. All courses are conducted in compliance with Standards of Training Certification and Watch Keeping (STCW 1978 as amended) set by International Maritime Organization.
CMET has a commitment to impart quality training. CMET Lucknow has been graded A1 (Outstanding) for Pre-Sea, Post-Sea and Modular Courses by Lloyd's Register Asia for last three years, Quality standard of institute: CMET Lucknow is an ISO 9001-2015 and is also rated as a 'Good Institute' by CRISIL Grading.
